With a background in music, a passion for problem-solving, and a side career in elite volleyball officiating, Procise's Senior Solutions Analyst, Robyn Courchane brings both structure and creativity to everything she does. In this spotlight, she shares how her unique path led to tech, and what fuels her work at Procise today.
What led you to pursue a career in tech/IT?
I’ve always had a knack for logic and problem-solving. Using technology to streamline everyday tasks and solve real-world, business challenges is something I take pride in doing. In college, I started designing websites and taking on basic coding projects. I enjoy the constant evolution of the tech landscape. It’s a field that keeps you learning and adapting, which really appeals to me.
Tell us about your career/education journey, what brought you to work at Procise?
I actually studied music at the College of Saint Benedict. There is a proven connection between music and programming. Both rely heavily on recognizing and manipulating patterns. Music theory is rooted in mathematics, and both disciplines require structure, focus, and sequential thinking. I continued my studies in computer science and entered the workforce in the tech field. This is where I met Jim when he was a vendor at my prior company.
What drew me to Procise was their focus on SharePoint and the Microsoft stack which has since evolved into M365. I wanted to be part of a team that valued both technical excellence and delivering quality solutions for customers, Procise offered exactly that.
What tools or platforms do you use the most?
I spend most of my time working in Microsoft 365 services, especially; Power Platform, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
What is your favorite type of project to work on?
I really enjoy projects where I get to build something from the ground up, especially applications that solve a real business need. I love the combination of architecture, UX planning, and hands-on development. It’s even more rewarding when I get to collaborate cross-functionally with designers, analysts, and stakeholders.
What do you enjoy the most about your work?
The creative problem-solving aspect is what I enjoy the most. There’s something satisfying about taking on a complex issue, breaking it down, and building a clean, efficient solution. I also enjoy learning from my colleagues. It’s inspiring to work with people who are equally passionate and constantly helping each other grow.
What are your passions or hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work and family, I’ve been a volleyball official for 25 years at all levels of the sport. I currently have the privilege of traveling around the country to officiate the highest levels of NCAA & USA Volleyball. The flexibility of being able to work from anywhere allows me the opportunity to work on customer projects during the day and be on the volleyball court at night.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Running was never really my thing, so I ran a marathon to prove to myself that I could do it...but just that one time. My opinion of running didn’t change after that.
What’s your favorite animal?
No favorites really, but I can say I firmly dislike spiders.
